 GorgeRail Trip
Part 2: Saturday, May 17th, 2003
By Funnelfan
It's 5:31am when I just began to rise and the X-VAWJAS goes east. Luckily the Inn at The Dalles has great big picture windows with a great view.
Half an hour later when a ISEG2 throttles east out of The Dalles.
The Portland section glides by the Dalles dam at 8:30am
Meanwhile a tug gets a lift. Tight fit in there.
9:25am has the M-PASVAW past Hood, WA going for a meet with the M-PTLPAS at Cooks
After the meet the M-PTLPAS pulls out of the east switch of Cooks.
Same train in the "tunnels" area.
Half an our to the rear of the M-PTLPAS is the U-INBROO trash train shown at the east switch of Bingen.
The trash train is on the approach to Avery, WA.
The MHKSE is rolling west of Biggs at 11:08am.
S-CHCPTL is rolling west of Maryhill just 15 minutes later.
Followed by the V-LAUPTL one half hour later.
UP's own trash train, the USEGL gives Biggs a whiff just past noon.
The S-TACCHC climbs out of Maryhill at 12:28pm
A quarter before 2pm I led a charge up a hill to photograph the MEUHK
This train had the bizarre sight of three Milwaukee Road Boxcars entrained together.
At the same time the H-PASBAR is across the river pulling into Wishram
Half an hour later a empty grain train heads east.
MHKPD blasts by Celio Park at 3:15pm
M-PASLYD gets underway from Wishram shortly thereafter
And after the above train clears, the H-PASBAR starts down the Inside Gateway.
